WordPress is a true open-source CMS and has a great, helpful community. Those are both the biggest positives and negatives. You can build anything with WordPress, from very small one-pagers to enterprise platforms. Having such a big ecosystem means there are a lot of very good plugins and themes, but also a lot of very bad ones. As a long-term user and developer, I have seen WordPress develop from mostly custom-built themes to a true low-code CMS, which still has the flexibility to add custom code and optimizations. My professional opinion is that if you prefer autonomy and ownership, and are willing to accept a little chaotic ecosystem, WordPress is right for you.
