FlutterFlow
Low-code builder for native mobile and web apps that generates Flutter code
FlutterFlow is a low-code app builder that generates real Flutter code for iOS, Android and web apps, aimed at startups and app agencies.
Overview
FlutterFlow review
This FlutterFlow review covers what the platform is used for, its key features, FlutterFlow pricing, how it differs from Flutter, code export and backend choices, where it shines and falls short, and how it compares with other no code tools. FlutterFlow is a visual app builder: you design screens with a drag and drop interface, add logic in the visual action flow editor, connect data from Firebase, Supabase or a REST API, and FlutterFlow writes the Flutter and Dart code behind it. One FlutterFlow project ships to iOS and Android and the web, which makes it one of the more complete no code tools for app development. Because FlutterFlow exports normal Flutter code, you can download the source code of every Flutter app you build, open it in your own IDE and keep going with a Flutter developer. FlutterFlow was founded in 2020 by former Google engineers and says more than 3.3 million people have signed up to build with it.
What is FlutterFlow used for?
FlutterFlow is used for mobile app development and web apps when a team wants native iOS and Android apps faster than hand-written Flutter code, but with more control than simple no code platforms allow. Typical projects are MVPs and startup products, marketplaces, booking and fitness apps, internal field apps, customer portals and apps for clients built by agencies. Founders use it for rapid prototyping and early validation of an idea with a functional prototype; development teams use it to speed up the app development process on screens and standard flows, then add custom Dart code where the app needs complex logic.
It is a low code tool rather than a pure no code platform. You can build a simple app without programming knowledge, but complex apps with advanced state management, custom logic or unusual integrations still need someone who understands Flutter concepts and backends.
Key features
- Visual builder: a drag and drop interface with 200+ pre built widgets and pre built components, responsive layouts, themes and a design system you can reuse across projects.
- Visual action flow editor: business logic, navigation, API calls, conditions and backend queries built as flows instead of code.
- Database integrations: first-class Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Cloud Functions, cloud storage, push notifications) and Supabase, plus any REST API or your own backend. These integration capabilities connect the app to its backend; FlutterFlow has no database of its own, so an external database setup is part of every project.
- Custom code: custom widgets, custom actions and custom functions in Dart, plus packages from pub.dev for device features such as camera, GPS and Bluetooth.
- Code export and deployment: download the generated code as a full Flutter source code project or an APK, publish web apps on a custom domain, and deploy to the App Store and Google Play in one click on paid plans.
- Collaboration tools: real-time editing, comments, branching and GitHub integration for version control on team plans, plus Test Mode and automated tests for catching bugs.
- Integrations: Stripe and RevenueCat payments, Google Maps, Google Analytics, localization and a Figma frame import on the Business plan.
FlutterFlow pricing
FlutterFlow charges per editor seat. The prices below come from the FlutterFlow pricing page as of September 2026 and are monthly prices; annual billing saves about 25%, according to FlutterFlow's documentation. The current plans took effect on 18 August 2025.
- Free plan: $0. Up to 2 projects, 1 editor, 5 lifetime AI requests. No code download, APK download, custom domain, GitHub integration or app store publishing.
- Basic plan: $39 a month (about $29.25 billed annually). Unlimited projects, code download, APK download, web publishing with one custom domain, one-click app store publishing, 50 AI requests a month.
- Growth plan: $80 a month for the first seat and $55 for a second. Unlimited projects, up to 2 editors, 2 branches, GitHub integration, one-click localization, the VS Code code extension and OpenAPI imports.
- Business plan: $150 a month for the first seat and $85 per seat for seats 2 to 5. Up to 5 editors, 5 open branches per project, up to 3 automated tests, Figma frame import and CLI access.
- Enterprise: custom pricing, with single sign-on, activity logging and unlimited development environments.
The cost surprise to check is everything outside FlutterFlow. There is no built-in database, so Firebase or Supabase is a separate bill that grows with reads, writes and storage. Publishing also needs an Apple Developer account ($99 a year) and a Google Play account ($25 once). On the Growth and Business plans every additional editor pays a seat, so a team of five on Business costs about $490 a month before the backend.
When to upgrade: the free plan is for learning. Move to Basic as soon as you want to own the code or publish; move to Growth when two people edit the same project or you need GitHub and branches; move to Business for a larger team with automated tests.
Learning curve: is FlutterFlow a no code platform?
FlutterFlow calls itself low-code, and that is accurate. The drag and drop builder makes simple screens easy, but the app building process still follows Flutter concepts: widgets, state, queries and navigation. Expect a steep learning curve if you have never built an app; reviewers who tested FlutterFlow report weeks, not days, before a first production app. Complex logic, advanced animations and API connections usually need custom code, and a good data model in Firebase or Supabase matters more than the visual builder. Teams with a Flutter developer on hand get the most out of it.
FlutterFlow vs Flutter
Flutter is Google's open-source framework for building apps from one Dart codebase. FlutterFlow is a visual builder on top of Flutter: it generates the same kind of Flutter project a developer would write by hand. With plain Flutter you write every screen in code and have no platform limits; with FlutterFlow you build most screens visually and write custom Dart code only where needed. Many teams use both: they start in FlutterFlow for speed, then export the project and continue in Flutter when the app outgrows the visual editor. Flutter developers are also the natural hires to maintain a FlutterFlow app later.
Code export, backend and offline support
Code export is FlutterFlow's main advantage over other platforms. On any paid plan the code download gives you the full source code of the FlutterFlow project, so you are not locked in. Reviewers who tested FlutterFlow, such as RapidDev, describe the exported code as clean enough to hand to Flutter developers, though a large project will still need refactoring. After export, changes made to the exported code do not flow back into the drag and drop builder, so pick one place to work.
For the backend you choose an external backend: Firebase with Firestore and Cloud Functions, Supabase with Postgres, or your own REST API. The data model, authentication and security rules live there, not in FlutterFlow. Offline support depends on that backend: Firestore caches data on the device, while offline sync for other backends is not turnkey and needs custom work. Security of the builder itself is covered by FlutterFlow's SOC 2 Type 1 certification; compliance of your app (HIPAA, GDPR) depends on how you configure the backend.
Where FlutterFlow shines — and where it falls short
Strengths:
- Native iOS, Android and web apps from one visual project.
- Full Flutter code export on paid plans, so no lock-in.
- Custom code in Dart and pub.dev packages when the drag and drop tools run out.
- Strong Firebase and Supabase integration, push notifications, payments and other advanced features.
Trade-offs:
- A steep learning curve for non-technical founders; complex apps need Flutter knowledge.
- No built-in database, so backend costs and setup come on top.
- Per-seat pricing gets expensive for larger teams.
- Edits after code export cannot be synced back into the editor.
How FlutterFlow compares
- Adalo: simpler native mobile apps with a built-in database, easier for beginners, no code export.
- Bubble: full web apps and SaaS products with a built-in database and workflows; native mobile apps are newer.
- Draftbit: React Native and Expo code with AI agents and a visual editor.
- Bravo Studio: native apps built from Figma designs.
- Thunkable: block-based logic for simpler mobile apps.
- Glide and AppSheet: fast internal apps on spreadsheets and databases, not custom consumer apps.
- Supabase: a common Postgres backend to pair with FlutterFlow.
Is FlutterFlow worth it?
FlutterFlow is worth it for startups and agencies that want native mobile apps quickly, need code they own, and have or can hire someone with some Flutter knowledge. The Basic plan is affordable for one builder, and code export removes the biggest risk of no code platforms. It is less of a fit for non-technical founders who want everything in one place, for simple internal apps where Glide or AppSheet is enough, or for large teams on a tight budget. If you want help building or scaling a FlutterFlow app, the low-code agencies and developers on LowCodeDevs can take it on.

Questions
FlutterFlow FAQ
Is FlutterFlow free or paid?
Both. The free plan allows up to 2 projects and 1 editor but no code download or app store publishing. Paid plans start at $39 a month for Basic, about $29.25 billed annually.
What is the difference between Flutter and FlutterFlow?
Flutter is Google's open-source framework for building apps in Dart. FlutterFlow is a visual builder that generates Flutter code, so you design screens visually and can export the Flutter project on paid plans.
Is FlutterFlow actually good?
Yes for native mobile apps and MVPs when you want speed and code ownership. It has a learning curve, and complex apps still need Flutter knowledge and a separate backend.
Which is better, Adalo or FlutterFlow?
Adalo is easier for beginners and includes a database. FlutterFlow is more flexible, exports real Flutter code and suits more complex apps, but needs Firebase, Supabase or another backend.
What's better than FlutterFlow?
It depends on the app. Bubble suits web apps and SaaS products, Adalo simpler mobile apps, Glide and AppSheet internal tools, and plain Flutter code teams that no longer need a visual builder.
Is FlutterFlow better than Figma?
They do different jobs. Figma is a design tool; FlutterFlow builds working apps. On the Business plan you can import Figma frames into FlutterFlow as a starting point.
Can FlutterFlow publish to the App Store and Google Play?
Yes. Paid plans include one-click deployment to the App Store and Google Play, and you need your own Apple Developer and Google Play accounts.
