Overview

STUDIO review

This STUDIO review covers what the tool is used for, its features, STUDIO pricing, how it compares with other no-code website builders, and who it suits. STUDIO (studio.design) is a browser-based design tool from Studio Inc. in Tokyo. You design pages in an intuitive editor, add animations and managed content, and publish a new site in one click, so there is no server to set up and no code to write. The vendor calls it the easiest and quickest design tool to turn any idea into a website. It is best known in Japan and is used by web designers and UX designers around the world who want creative freedom and an easy way to launch without learning to code.

What is STUDIO used for?

STUDIO is used to build marketing websites, portfolios, landing pages, brand sites and company sites with a CMS for news or blog content. Web designers, UX designers and small teams use it to create a new site from an idea in hours rather than weeks, and agencies use it to hand clients a site they can easily edit themselves. Because every element is placed visually, it suits designers who want pixel-level control over layout and motion. It is not an app builder: there are no user accounts, databases or app logic, so web apps belong in a different tool.

Key features

  • Visual design editor: an intuitive, powerful editor with pixel-perfect adjustments, groups and layers, responsive breakpoints, customization of every element and dynamic animations, all in the browser.
  • Figma import: bring designs in from Figma, with breakpoints generated automatically.
  • Animation: interactions, motion and Lottie animation support for storytelling pages.
  • CMS: a collaborative CMS to write, edit and publish content in real time, with limits on CMS items per plan.
  • Forms: a form builder with custom styling and animation; responses per month depend on the plan.
  • SEO settings: per-page and per-content SEO settings and an auto-generated sitemap.
  • Publishing: one-click publishing on studio.site or your own domain, with no server to manage.
  • Templates: a template marketplace with free and paid templates from designers.
  • Team workspaces: unlimited members, custom permissions and guest invitations on the Team plan.

STUDIO pricing

STUDIO charges per site, plus an optional team workspace. The prices below come from the STUDIO pricing page as of September 2026, in US dollars with taxes included.

  • Free: $0. Up to 50 pages, 5 GB storage and 100 CMS items, published on a studio.site address with a STUDIO badge.
  • Mini: $5 a month billed annually, $10 monthly. A custom domain for a one-page site (2 pages plus a 404 page) and 100 form responses.
  • Personal: $10 a month billed annually, $12 monthly. Custom domain, 150 pages, 1,000 form responses and password protection.
  • Business: $25 a month billed annually, $35 monthly. 300 pages, 10,000 form responses, basic permissions, unlimited analytics and 301 redirects.
  • Business Plus: $80 a month billed annually, $110 monthly. 15,000 CMS items, 360-day version history, advanced permissions, custom headers and activity logs.
  • Team workspace: free for up to 3 projects; the Team plan costs $14 per member a month billed annually ($18 monthly) with a minimum of 3 members.
  • Custom proxy add-on: $290 a month to host a STUDIO site under a subdirectory of your own domain.

The cost surprise to check is that plans are per site and refunds are not available after purchase. A studio running several client sites pays for each site, and a team pays per member on top.

Designing and publishing a site in STUDIO

Start from a blank page, a template or a Figma import; the editor is easy for beginners and powerful enough for experienced designers. Place boxes, text and images freely, set the layout for each breakpoint, and add hover effects or scroll animation. Connect a content collection for news or case studies, add a form, and fill in the SEO settings for each page. Publishing is one click to a studio.site address, and a paid site plan connects your own domain so visitors see your brand. Collaborators edit in the same project, and a client can update CMS content without touching the design. The learning curve is steeper than template-first builders: expect a few hours to get comfortable with the canvas and a few days to master responsive layouts.

Where STUDIO shines — and where it falls short

Strengths:

  • Real creative freedom in an intuitive editor, close to a design tool, yet easy to learn.
  • Motion and animation built in, including Lottie.
  • Figma import and a collaborative CMS in one tool.
  • A generous free plan and low entry prices per site.

Trade-offs:

  • Per-site pricing adds up for agencies with many sites.
  • No code export or self-hosting; sites stay on STUDIO's servers, unlike WordPress.
  • Not for web apps, logins or e-commerce checkouts.
  • The editor interface is available in English and Japanese only, according to Slidde (a competitor).
  • A smaller community and fewer English tutorials than Webflow or Framer.

How STUDIO compares

  • Framer: the closest match, a designer-first canvas with CMS and hosting and a larger English community.
  • Webflow: more control over CSS, interactions and CMS structure, with a steeper learning curve.
  • Readymag: a free-form canvas for editorial and portfolio pages.
  • Wix and Squarespace: template-first builders with e-commerce and simpler editing.
  • Carrd: cheap one-page sites when you need less design control.
  • Figma: where many STUDIO sites start before import.

Is STUDIO worth it?

STUDIO is worth it for designers and small studios who want to publish a well-designed marketing site or portfolio without code, with animation and a CMS included, at a low price per site. The free plan is enough to test the editor. It is less of a fit for agencies with many sites, for projects that need code export, and for anything that behaves like an app. If you need help designing or building a site on STUDIO or a similar tool, the no-code agencies and developers on LowCodeDevs can take it on.
