Overview
Outseta review
This Outseta review covers what Outseta is used for, its key features, Outseta pricing, how it works with Webflow and other site builders, where it shines and falls short, and how it compares with Memberstack and other membership tools. Outseta replaces a stack of separate tools: user authentication, subscription billing, a CRM, email marketing and a help desk live in one platform and share the same member data. You add sign up and login forms to an existing site, connect Stripe to process payments, and manage members, customers and support from the Outseta dashboard. Outseta was founded in 2016 in Boston by Geoff Roberts, Dimitris Georgakopoulos and Dave Wong, who earlier built Buildium, and the company is bootstrapped.
What is Outseta used for?
Outseta is used to run a membership business or a small SaaS product without stitching together five separate tools. It suits modern SaaS companies and membership sites alike. Typical customers sell paid newsletters, online communities, associations and clubs, gated content libraries, directories and early-stage SaaS apps. The platform handles the parts every membership business needs: members sign up, pay, log in, see protected content, get emails and ask for support, and the business sees how members engage.
Because everything shares one set of member data, a support agent sees a member's subscription plan and payment history next to the ticket, and an email campaign can target members by plan or custom attributes. Outseta also supports team based memberships: in team mode, several users belong to one account and share one subscription, which suits B2B products and group memberships. Individual memberships work the same way.
Key features
- Authentication and protected content: login forms, sign up forms and profile pages you embed on your site, with email and password or Google social login, and content gating by plan.
- Payments and subscription billing: Outseta is a Stripe verified partner. It handles recurring payments, one-time products, free trials, team billing and payment methods such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, SEPA and iDEAL.
- CRM: people and account records with subscription status, custom attributes and activity, so customer data and member data live in one place. Subscription management, upgrades and cancellations happen from the same record.
- Email marketing: email campaigns, onboarding sequences and transactional emails, targeted with member data and tracked with open and click tracking.
- Help desk: support tickets, live chat and a branded knowledge base, linked to the same CRM records, so help desk tools see each customer's plan and membership payments.
- Reporting: subscription metrics, revenue, churn and engagement.
- Developer tools: webhooks, a REST API, an MCP server and JWT tokens to verify members in your own app.
Outseta pricing
Outseta pricing is based on the number of contacts in your CRM, plus a transaction fee on revenue. The prices below come from Outseta's pricing page as of September 2026.
- Founder: $47 a month billed monthly or $37 billed annually, up to 1,000 contacts, 2% transaction fee.
- Start-up: $87 monthly or $67 annually, up to 5,000 contacts, 1% fee.
- Growth: $127 monthly or $97 annually, up to 10,000 contacts, 1% fee.
- 50K: $497 monthly or $397 annually, up to 50,000 contacts, 1% fee. Larger accounts get a custom plan.
Every plan includes all features, unlimited seats, individual and group memberships and free data migrations. There is no free plan. A 7-day free trial gives full access, and Outseta asks for a credit card at sign up. There are no contracts, and annual billing saves 25%.
The cost surprise to check is the transaction fee. Outseta's 2% or 1% comes on top of Stripe's own fees, typically 2.9% + 30¢ per card payment. On $10,000 in monthly revenue, the Founder plan's 2% adds $200 to the $47 subscription, so moving to Start-up pays off quickly once revenue grows. Contacts also count leads and newsletter subscribers, not only paying members, so a large free email list can push you into a higher plan.
Sign up, protected content, data attributes and design control on Webflow
Outseta works with Webflow, Framer, WordPress, Squarespace, Carrd, WeWeb and React apps. On Webflow, the official Outseta Webflow app lets you add sign up and login forms directly in the Webflow Designer, and a head script loads the rest. Forms appear as pop-up embeds or on-page embeds. Data attributes control element visibility, show member data on pages and track actions such as clicks, and new members can sync to Webflow CMS items. Native Webflow forms can feed the CRM, email and help desk.
Getting started takes an afternoon for a simple site. Create an Outseta account, add your logo and colors, connect Stripe, create a subscription plan, then add the embed codes or the Webflow app to your site. The signup process then runs from your own pages, and new subscribers appear in the Outseta dashboard. There is no coding required for a standard membership site, and third party integrations run through webhooks and the API. Custom apps use the API and JWT verification, which needs technical expertise.
Member data, CRM, email marketing and help desk in one place
The main reason businesses pick Outseta is that the modules share one database. When members sign up, Outseta creates the CRM record, starts the subscription, adds them to email lists and links future support tickets to the same account. A support agent answering a ticket sees the customer's plan, payments and past emails without switching tools. Marketing can send email campaigns to customers on a given plan, or to members who have not logged in for a month, using custom attributes stored in the CRM. For a small business this replaces four tools and the work of keeping them in sync, and everything is managed from the Outseta dashboard.
How does Outseta's pricing compare?
Outseta is often cheaper than a stack of separate tools, and it has no separate business plan: every plan has every feature. A business that pays for a CRM, an email marketing tool, a help desk and a membership plugin can replace them with one Outseta plan, and Outseta's customers mention dropping HubSpot, Intercom and Chargebee. Against Memberstack, Outseta says its transaction fee is lower: 2% on its cheapest plan and 1% above it, against 4% on Memberstack's entry level (Outseta's own comparison, so check Memberstack's current page). Memberstack lets you try it without a credit card, so a new site can test it before paying. Once revenue grows, the lower fee and the built-in tools usually make Outseta cheaper as a single platform for a growing membership business.
Where Outseta shines — and where it falls short
Strengths:
- One platform instead of separate tools for auth, billing, CRM, email and help desk, at one monthly cost.
- All features and unlimited seats on every plan, with no per user pricing.
- Team billing and group memberships built in.
- A low transaction fee compared with some rivals, and free migrations.
Trade-offs:
- Less design customization than tools built around custom attributes. Login forms and profile pages are embeds you style within limits.
- Social login is limited to Google.
- No free plan, and the trial needs a card.
- No built-in course builder or community features; you add those with other tools.
- Each module is simpler than a dedicated CRM or help desk.
How Outseta compares
- Memberstack: membership and auth for Webflow with deeper design control through custom attributes, but a higher transaction fee at entry level and no built-in help desk.
- Memberful: memberships for creators and publishers, with strong WordPress and newsletter integrations.
- MemberSpace: simple content gating for existing websites.
- Circle and Mighty Networks: community platforms with memberships built in.
- Kajabi and Podia: course and digital product platforms for creators.
Is Outseta worth it?
Outseta is worth it for membership businesses and small SaaS teams that want one tool for sign up, payments, CRM, email and support, and do not want to pay for five subscriptions. The flat, contact-based pricing is predictable, and team billing is a strength for B2B memberships. It is less of a fit when you need full design control over every login screen, many social login options, or built-in courses and community features.
