Overview

Podia review

This Podia review covers what the Podia platform is used for, its key features, Podia pricing and transaction fees, how it compares with Kajabi, where it shines and falls short, and the alternatives worth a look. Podia puts a website builder, checkout, online courses, digital downloads, coaching, webinars, a community and email marketing under one roof, so a creator can run an online business without stitching together separate tools. It is built for solo creators and small teams without technical skills: you add a product, set a price and share a landing page, and Podia handles payment processing and delivery.

What is Podia used for?

Podia is used to sell online courses and other digital products directly to an audience. Typical products are self-paced and cohort courses, digital downloads such as templates, ebooks and presets, one-to-one coaching sessions, live webinars through Zoom or YouTube Live, and paid community memberships. Most creators on Podia are coaches, teachers, designers, writers and consultants who want one place for their site, their sales and their email list.

How Podia works is simple: you build a site with the website builder or connect a custom domain, create products, and bundle them into memberships or packages. Customers buy through Podia's built-in checkout, which handles sales tax in 230 countries and more than 20 currencies (Podia pricing). Email campaigns, lead magnets and opt-in forms then bring buyers back for the next product.

Key features

  • Online courses: self-paced or cohort courses with video, text, files, quizzes and drip scheduling. Cohort courses are included on every plan (Podia vs Kajabi).
  • Digital downloads: sell files such as templates, guides and presets with instant delivery.
  • Coaching and webinars: book paid coaching sessions and run live webinars and events.
  • Community: community tools with topics, posts, comments and paid community memberships inside the same account as your courses.
  • Website builder and landing pages: a drag-and-drop website builder, blog, landing pages and a custom domain on all paid plans.
  • Email marketing: broadcasts, automated campaigns and opt-in forms, with an email tool built in, so there is no separate email plan for small lists.
  • Affiliate marketing and upsells: an affiliate program and upsells on the Shaker plan and above.
  • Integrations: Zapier, Google Analytics, Meta pixel and more than 1,900 integrations through Zapier on higher plans; PayPal next to Stripe for checkout.

Podia pricing

Podia has three plans and a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. There is no permanent free plan. The Podia fees below come from Podia's pricing page as of September 2026, with annual billing.

  • Podia Mover (the basic plan): $42 a month ($504 a year). Courses, downloads, coaching, community, website and email for up to 100 subscribers, with a 5% transaction fee.
  • Podia Shaker: $84 a month ($1,008 a year). Zero transaction fees, affiliate marketing, upsells, PayPal and Zapier, email for up to 500 subscribers.
  • Earthquaker: $150 a month ($1,800 a year). Unlimited products, videos, spaces and assistants, email for up to 1,000 subscribers.

Billed monthly, Podia lists Mover from $49 and Earthquaker at $179 a month (Podia vs Kajabi). All paid plans include free migration help.

The cost surprise to check is the 5% transaction fee on the Mover plan: once total sales pass about $840 a month, the fee costs more than the upgrade to Podia's Shaker plan, which has zero transaction fees. Many creators start on the Mover plan and upgrade as the business grows; annual billing lowers the monthly price on every plan. The second is the email plan: the included subscriber limits are small (100, 500 and 1,000), so check what a larger list costs before you move an existing audience. Stripe or PayPal processing fees apply on every plan.

Course creation, email marketing and customer support on Podia

Course creation on Podia is deliberately simple, and it is where Podia excels for a first course. A course is made of sections and lessons with video, text, files and quizzes, and you can drip lessons, run it as a cohort or sell it on its own, inside a membership or in a bundle. Coaching sessions and live webinars sit next to the course, so a creator can sell a course with coaching packages without other tools. The course builder has a two-level structure and basic quizzes, which suits most online course creators but not programs that need grading or certificates. Podia's customer support offers live chat support on weekdays and a help center, so chat support is there when a launch goes wrong, and free migrations move existing courses, customers and third party integrations over when you switch from another platform.

Podia vs Kajabi

Kajabi and Podia sell the same kinds of products, and many creators compare the two platforms before they choose, but at different price points. Podia starts at $49 a month billed monthly, Kajabi at $179 (Podia vs Kajabi), and Podia includes cohort courses and free migrations on every paid plan. Kajabi offers more built-in automation, richer course templates and a branded mobile app, while Podia relies more on Zapier for advanced automations. In a Kajabi Podia comparison, choose Podia to start an online business simply at a lower cost; choose Kajabi when you need advanced automations and a native mobile app for students.

Getting started with Podia

Start the free trial, pick a site template and add your first product, often a lead magnet or a small digital download. Set up email opt-in forms to grow a list, then add a course or coaching product for paying customers. When sales pick up, move from Mover to Shaker to remove the transaction fee and unlock affiliate marketing. Podia's email marketing and landing pages then turn visitors into subscribers, and affiliate marketing on Shaker lets partners promote your products for a commission.

Where Podia shines — and where it falls short

Strengths:

  • One all-in-one platform for courses, downloads, coaching, community and email.
  • User friendly for first time creators with no technical skills.
  • Zero transaction fees from the Shaker plan up.
  • Free migrations and a 14-day trial without a credit card.

Trade-offs:

  • 5% transaction fee on the Mover plan.
  • Small email subscriber limits on every plan.
  • No native mobile app for students, and basic quizzes and community moderation (GroupApp review).
  • Advanced automations need Zapier, which starts on Shaker.

How Podia compares

  • Kajabi: a pricier all-in-one platform with deeper automations and a branded mobile app.
  • Gumroad and Payhip: lighter storefronts for digital downloads with per-sale fees instead of a monthly plan.
  • Mighty Networks and Circle: community-first platforms with native apps.
  • Memberful and MemberSpace: memberships added to an existing website.
  • Kit: an email marketing tool that sells digital products on the side.

Is Podia worth it?

Podia is worth it for solo creators and small teams who want to sell online courses, digital downloads and coaching from one simple platform without technical skills. The Shaker plan is the sweet spot once sales grow, because it drops the transaction fee. It is less of a fit for creators who need advanced automations, a native mobile app or large email lists, where Kajabi or a dedicated email tool may suit better.
