SendinBlue
Email, SMS and WhatsApp marketing platform with CRM, formerly Sendinblue
Brevo, formerly Sendinblue, is an email marketing platform with SMS, WhatsApp, automation and a CRM, priced by emails sent, not contacts.
Overview
SendinBlue review
This Brevo review covers what the platform is used for, its key features, Brevo pricing and the free plan, deliverability and transactional email, where it shines and falls short, and how it compares with other email marketing tools. Brevo is the new name of Sendinblue: the company, founded in Paris in 2012 by Armand Thiberge, changed its name in 2023 to reflect that it had grown from an email tool into a marketing platform with a CRM, SMS, WhatsApp campaigns, live chat and a customer data platform (Wikipedia). Brevo reports more than 600,000 customers and reached a valuation above $1 billion in 2025. The product you log in to is the same one Sendinblue customers used; only the brand changed.
What is Brevo used for?
Brevo offers email marketing software for small businesses, online stores and agencies. They use it to run email marketing campaigns, newsletters and automated email flows, and to send transactional emails such as order confirmations and password resets from the same account. Because pricing is based on the number of emails you send each month, not on how many contacts you store, it suits businesses with large lists that send a few campaigns a month.
Beyond email, teams use Brevo for SMS marketing and WhatsApp campaigns, web push notifications, a shared inbox with live chat (Brevo Conversations) and a simple sales CRM with deals and pipelines. The idea is one platform for marketing, sales and customer messages, so small businesses can replace several marketing tools with one Brevo account.
Key features
- Email editor and templates: a drag-and-drop email editor with more than 40 responsive templates, an HTML editor, and an AI assistant that drafts content and subject lines.
- Marketing automation: a visual workflow builder with triggers such as sign-ups, page visits, custom events and abandoned carts, if/else conditions, and email, SMS and WhatsApp steps. Twelve pre-built automation workflows cover welcome series, birthdays and cart recovery.
- Transactional emails: an SMTP relay and API for order, account and password reset emails, with SPF, DKIM and DMARC authentication and logs for every message.
- SMS, WhatsApp and push: SMS marketing on a credit system, WhatsApp campaigns and web push notifications (from the WonderPush acquisition in 2023).
- Landing pages and forms: a landing page builder and sign-up forms, plus A/B testing of subject lines and content on Standard plans and higher.
- CRM and Brevo Conversations: contacts, companies, deals and pipelines for sales automation, and a shared inbox for live chat, email and social messages.
- Customer data: contact data, segments and advanced segmentation, with a customer data platform added after the Octolis acquisition in 2023.
- Integrations: plugins for WordPress, WooCommerce and Shopify (the WordPress plugin has more than 80,000 active installs), direct connections to Salesforce and HubSpot, and Zapier and Make for other apps.
Brevo pricing
Brevo prices paid plans by monthly email volume, and the volume you choose also sets how many contacts you can store. The figures below come from Brevo's pricing page and help center as of September 2026.
- Free plan: $0, 300 emails per day, basic automation and the CRM. Emails carry the Brevo logo. Brevo's help center lists contact storage of up to 100,000 on the free plan; some reviews still quote an older 2,000-contact figure.
- Starter plan: from $9 a month for 5,000 emails a month, with no daily sending limit.
- Standard plan: from $18 a month for 5,000 emails, adding A/B testing, landing pages, advanced reporting and more automation.
- Professional plan: from $499 a month for 150,000 emails (up to 10 million), storage for up to 2 million contacts, multi-channel campaigns and phone support.
- Enterprise plan: custom pricing, with advanced security, multi-account management and a dedicated account manager.
Yearly billing takes about 10% off paid plans (Email Tool Tester). SMS and WhatsApp are paid with credits on top of any plan; SMS within the US starts at about €5 for 500 messages.
The cost surprise to check is the add-ons. Removing the Brevo branding on the Starter plan costs about $12 a month extra, each additional user on Standard costs about $12 a month, and a dedicated IP is only offered on higher plans (Email Tool Tester). Pricing by emails is cheap for large lists and few campaigns, but the bill rises quickly if you email a large list several times a week.
Brevo's free plan: what you get
Brevo's free plan is free forever and needs no credit card. You get 300 emails per day, which is enough for about 9,000 emails a month, plus the email editor, basic automation workflows, forms, transactional emails and the CRM. The limits are the daily cap, the Brevo logo in every email, and no landing pages or A/B testing. For a small newsletter or a store sending order emails, the free plan is one of the most generous in email marketing; for a list you want to email all at once, the 300-a-day cap is the constraint that forces an upgrade to the Starter plan.
Email campaigns, email templates and marketing automation
Most email campaigns in Brevo start from one of its responsive email templates in the email editor. You write the subject lines (or let the AI assistant suggest a few), pick a segment, and send now or schedule. On Standard and higher, A/B testing compares two subject lines or versions and sends the winner to the rest of the list. Marketing automation works the same way across channels: a trigger such as a sign-up, a purchase or a custom event starts a workflow that can send emails, SMS or WhatsApp messages, wait, branch on behavior and update contact data. The free and Starter plans cover basic automation; more advanced automation features and the landing page builder sit on Standard and above, which is where most growing email marketing programs end up.
Deliverability, dedicated IP and transactional emails
Brevo started as a transactional email service, and it still stands out there. The SMTP relay is included on every plan, and Brevo handles SPF, DKIM and DMARC authentication for your sending domain. In Venture Harbour's long-running test of 640,000 emails, Brevo had consistently high inbox placement (Venture Harbour). A dedicated IP is available on higher plans for high-volume senders who want their own sending reputation. Deliverability always depends on your own list quality and authentication, so warm up new domains and clean inactive contacts before large sends.
Where Brevo shines — and where it falls short
Strengths:
- Pricing by emails sent, so large contact lists cost less than on contact-based tools.
- A generous free plan with transactional email and the CRM included.
- Email, SMS, WhatsApp, push, chat and CRM in one platform.
- Strong transactional email and deliverability tools.
Trade-offs:
- Automation is less deep than specialists such as ActiveCampaign or Klaviyo.
- Branding removal, multi-user access and phone support cost more or need higher plans; email support is the default on lower tiers.
- The integration catalog is smaller than HubSpot's or ActiveCampaign's.
- Live chat support was replaced by an AI assistant in August 2026, per Email Tool Tester; phone support is only on Professional and Enterprise.
How Brevo compares
- Mailchimp: the best-known email tool, priced by contacts, with a larger integration catalog.
- MailerLite: simpler and cheaper for newsletters and small lists.
- Klaviyo: deeper ecommerce automation and data for online stores.
- ActiveCampaign: more advanced automation and CRM for B2B teams.
- GetResponse: email marketing with webinars and landing pages.
- SendPulse: a similar multi-channel mix of email, SMS and chatbots.
- HubSpot: a full CRM platform where email is one part.
Is Brevo worth it?
Brevo is worth it for small businesses and online stores that want email marketing, transactional emails, SMS and a basic CRM in one account at a low price, especially with a large list and a modest sending schedule. It is less of a fit if you need the deepest automation, a huge integration catalog, or many users on a low plan, where the add-ons add up. SendinBlue FAQ
Is Sendinblue now Brevo?
Yes. Sendinblue changed its name to Brevo in 2023. The product, accounts and data carried over; only the brand changed.
How much does Brevo cost?

Is Brevo free forever?
Yes. The free plan has no time limit and needs no credit card, but it caps sending at 300 emails per day and adds the Brevo logo to your emails.
