Overview

ChatBot review

This ChatBot.com review covers what the chatbot platform does today, its key features, ChatBot pricing and AI resolutions, where it shines and falls short, and how it compares with other chatbot platforms. In short: ChatBot is an AI chatbot platform for customer interactions on your website and messaging apps, not a standalone platform for developers. ChatBot is made by Text, the company formerly called LiveChat Software, which also builds LiveChat and HelpDesk. The AI chatbot now runs inside Text's customer service platform, so one subscription covers the AI agent, live chat, a shared inbox and a ticketing system. You train the AI agent on your website, help center and documents, place a chat widget on your site and connect messaging platforms such as Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and SMS. It needs no technical skills to set up.

What is ChatBot used for?

ChatBot is used for customer support and sales conversations on a website and in messaging apps. The AI agent answers customer questions from your knowledge base with artificial intelligence, and hands the same chat over to your team when a question is complex or a customer asks for a person. Typical uses are ecommerce support and product advice, lead capture for service businesses, order and delivery questions, and after-hours support outside business hours.

The sales side has grown. The AI agent can recommend products from a live Shopify catalog, run cart recovery and proactive campaigns, and report the revenue tied to chats. Text says more than 30,000 teams use its platform (ChatBot.com). The main audience is small business and mid-sized teams that want an AI powered chatbot and live chat in one tool rather than a developer framework. The goal is customer engagement that helps drive sales: the chatbot platform greets website visitors, answers questions and books leads while your team is offline.

Key features

  • AI agent: an AI powered chatbot trained on your website URL, help center, product docs, PDFs and files. It gives human-like responses in plain language, holds human like conversations that remember the conversation history, and can tailor responses to the customer.
  • AI agent skills: ready-made behaviours for qualified lead capture, VIP routing to an account manager, complaint follow-up, product expert advice, sales incentives and cart upselling.
  • Multiple channels: website chat widget, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, SMS through Twilio, and email, all in one inbox.
  • Human handover: live chat, chat routing rules, team member takeover, shared canned responses and a ticketing system for questions the AI cannot solve.
  • Multilingual support: replies in multiple languages (48 in total), website widget translations and right-to-left support for diverse audiences. Multilingual support is included on every plan.
  • Visual flow builder: classic scripted flows built from blocks such as text messages, buttons and questions, useful for fixed processes like qualification forms (ChatBot Help).
  • Integrations: Shopify, Zapier, Make, Zendesk, Freshdesk and CRM systems, plus webhooks and an API with 10,000 or 20,000 calls a month depending on the plan.
  • Security and data protection: GDPR, SOC 2 Type II, CCPA and PCI DSS compliance, TLS data encryption in transit and two-factor authentication, according to the vendor. That covers the industry security standards and data privacy regulations most buyers ask about.

ChatBot pricing and AI resolutions

ChatBot is priced per user seat per month. The plans below come from the ChatBot.com pricing page as of September 2026.

  • Essential plan: $19 per user per month billed yearly, $25 billed monthly. 1 AI agent, 10 AI resolutions a month, 60 days of chat history, 3 proactive campaigns, inbox and ticketing.
  • Growth plan: $79 per user per month billed yearly, $99 billed monthly. 10 AI agents, 200 AI resolutions a month, unlimited chat history, 30 proactive campaigns.
  • Enterprise: custom pricing, with custom AI built and run for you, SLAs and software engineer support.

The usage metric is the AI resolution: one resolution means the AI directly solved a customer question, and multiple questions in the same chat still count as one. Extra resolutions come in packs of 50 for $49.50. All plans include the website widget, Messenger, WhatsApp, SMS and Shopify. There is no free plan, unlike some chatbot platforms that offer a free plan with a small message cap; every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial without a credit card, and the paid plan starts at $19 per user.

The cost surprise to check is the resolution allowance. Ten AI resolutions a month on the Essential plan is little for a busy store, and each 50-resolution pack costs more than two Essential seats. Estimate how many chats the AI will close on its own before you choose a plan, and check the resolution count in the reports during the trial.

How the AI chatbot and your team share customer conversations

ChatBot is built for a hybrid setup. The AI agent answers first, around the clock. When it cannot answer, or when a skill such as VIP routing or complaint follow-up applies, it passes the same chat to a human with the conversation so far. Agents then reply from the same inbox, with AI canned reply suggestions and chat summaries to speed them up. Tickets catch questions that need a follow-up by email. This matters for customer experience and customer support quality: customers never have to repeat themselves, and your team only handles the complex queries. The live chat integration is native, not a third-party add-on. For personalized interactions, the AI can use customer data such as order history from Shopify.

Knowledge Hub, integrations and chatbot platform analytics

The AI chatbot learns from the Knowledge Hub, where you add website pages, help articles and files; the AI agent is trained on these data sources automatically and uses generative AI to write the answer, so you do not write natural language processing intents by hand. Direct integration with LiveChat and HelpDesk from the same company gives a seamless integration for human support, and ChatBot also connects to Slack, WordPress, Shopify, Zapier and CRM systems. To connect ChatBot with other tools, use webhooks or the API. Built-in analytics track the chatbot's performance, customer interactions and user engagement: resolutions, handovers, conversions and sales tied to chats, which give valuable insights into what customers ask and where the knowledge base needs work. Reviewing the chatbot's performance weekly is how most teams raise the share of chats the AI closes. Advanced features such as custom AI and extra AI agents sit on the Growth plan and Enterprise.

Getting started: add the chat widget and connect ChatBot

Sign up for the 14-day free trial, add your website URL and help articles as knowledge sources, and install the chat widget with a code snippet or the Shopify app. Test the AI agent's answers in the preview, fill gaps in the knowledge base, then switch on skills and connect messaging apps. Most teams get a first version running in just a few minutes. Plan a second pass after a week to read real customer conversations, fix wrong answers and adjust when the chat hands over to your team.

Where ChatBot shines — and where it falls short

Strengths:

  • AI agent, live chat, inbox and tickets in one product from one vendor.
  • A user friendly platform with an intuitive interface: fast setup without technical skills, trained on your own content.
  • Strong ecommerce features for Shopify stores.
  • Website, Messenger, WhatsApp and SMS on every plan, plus social media platforms through integrations.
  • AI features and human agents share one inbox, so customer conversations stay in one place.

Trade-offs:

  • Per-seat pricing plus a small AI resolution allowance on Essential.
  • Resolution packs make heavy AI use expensive.
  • Less flexible than developer frameworks for custom logic.
  • Classic flows have no single overview of every flow.

How ChatBot compares

  • Intercom: a larger helpdesk and AI agent suite for support teams, priced per seat and per resolution.
  • Landbot: no-code conversational flows and WhatsApp bots with more design control.
  • Chatfuel: chatbots for Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp marketing.
  • Voiceflow: a builder for custom AI agents, closer to a developer platform.
  • Crisp: an affordable shared inbox with live chat and an AI bot.
  • Flow XO: simple multi-channel bots with automation.
  • Giosg: live chat and interactive content for sales teams.
  • HubSpot: chatbots inside a CRM for teams already using HubSpot.

Is ChatBot worth it?

The key benefits decide the verdict in this ChatBot.com review. ChatBot is worth it for small and mid-sized businesses, especially Shopify stores, that want an AI agent, live chat and tickets in one place and do not want to build anything themselves. The trial is enough to test the AI capabilities and answer quality on your own content, and to see how customer engagement changes. It is less of a fit if you expect thousands of AI resolutions a month on a small budget, or if you need deep custom logic that a developer platform handles better. If you want help to set up the AI agent, connect your CRM or build custom flows, the chatbot agencies and developers on LowCodeDevs can take it on.
