Flow XO

Chatbot builder with AI assistants and workflow automation for small teams

AI & agents · Chatbots & assistants

Flow XO is a chatbot platform for building AI assistants and automated flows on websites, Messenger and WhatsApp, for small businesses.

Overview

Flow XO review

This Flow XO review covers what the chatbot platform is used for and who its users are, its key features, Flow XO pricing, how the AI assistant works, where it shines and falls short, and how it compares with other platforms. Flow XO lets you create a chatbot once and publish it on several channels: a web chat widget, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack and SMS through Twilio. Behind each Flow XO chatbot sit flows that ask questions, store answers, call other apps and hand the conversation to a person when needed. Flow XO is still active: the vendor site lists current plans and AI assistant features, and this Flow XO review uses the September 2026 pricing.

What is Flow XO used for?

Flow XO is used for three jobs: generate leads, answer customer questions and book appointments. A typical Flow XO chatbot greets website visitors and customers, asks what they need, qualifies them with a few questions and sends the lead to a CRM or an email list. For support, an AI assistant answers simple questions from a knowledge base and passes complex questions to live agents. For scheduling, a flow checks Google Calendar and books a slot.

Small businesses, agencies and service companies are the main users of the platform, talking to customers on their website, on Facebook and in messaging apps. Agencies use Flow XO to build bots for clients on the Agency plan. Because Flow XO also works without a chat channel, some teams use "Flow XO for Workflow" as a light automation tool that moves data between apps.

Key features

  • Multi-channel chatbots: one Flow XO chatbot can run on a website, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, SMS via Twilio or an HTTP endpoint.
  • AI assistants: pick a persona, set the brand voice and let the assistant answer from your knowledge bases. Flow XO syncs knowledge from documents and websites so answers stay current.
  • Flows: a block-based flow builder with questions, conditions, filters and actions. Flows can trigger other flows and make API calls to exchange data with other platforms.
  • Templates: 11 prebuilt chatbot templates to start from, according to Chatimize and NoCodeMentor.
  • Integrations: 100+ integrations to connect the chatbot platform with the tools your business already uses, including Salesforce, Office 365, Google Calendar and Mailchimp, plus webhooks and an HTTP API to connect other apps. Flow XO also connects to ChatGPT and other OpenAI models (Flow XO support), and Chatimize lists a Dialogflow integration for natural language processing.
  • Live chat handover: a live agent takes over the chat inside the same conversation, with all the information the chatbot collected. Flow XO says its assistants can handle 80% of inquiries automatically; that is a vendor claim, so measure it on your own chat logs.
  • Built-in AI tools: intent detection, entities and sentiment analysis help the bot understand user input.
  • Team features: team members, logs and a data export of all user data on paid plans.

Flow XO pricing

Flow XO has a free plan and one self-serve paid plan. The details below come from the Flow XO pricing page as of September 2026.

  • Free Forever: $0. 100 interactions a month, 5 bots or active flows, two weeks of logs, community support. No credit card required.
  • Standard: $25 a month. 5,000 interactions, 15 bots or active flows, 5 team members, premium integrations, AI assistants and knowledge base, 250 AI credits a month, 3 months of logs, no Messenger branding and priority support.
  • Agency and Enterprise: custom plans for resellers and high-volume single organizations, through sales.

Add-ons: 5 extra bots or flows cost $10 a month, 25,000 extra interactions $25, each extra team member $5 and 100 AI credits $1. Paying annually saves 10%.

The usage metric is the interaction, counted per month; Flow XO's pricing help defines an interaction as any successful trigger of a flow, such as a user pressing a button or sending a phrase that starts one, not each message (Flow XO support). The cost surprise to check is volume. The free plan's 100 interactions a month run out with a few dozen conversations, and AI answers use AI credits on top of interactions. Check the logs for a week before you pick the number of interaction packs.

Building chatbots with Flow XO

Flow XO's own getting-started path has four steps: pick your persona, customize your AI assistant, add your channels and deploy. In practice you create a free account, choose a template or start from an empty chatbot, and test it in the built-in sandbox channel before any customer sees it. You then connect the chat channels your users already use. The web chat widget is a snippet you paste into your website; Facebook Messenger connects to a Facebook page; WhatsApp, Telegram and SMS need an account with that service or with Twilio.

Next you add flows for the jobs a chatbot should do on its own: a lead form, an FAQ answer, a booking step or an order lookup. Each flow can call an integration, for example to create a contact in Salesforce, add a subscriber in Mailchimp or check Google Calendar. When the chatbot works in the Flow XO sandbox, you publish it and watch the conversation logs to see which user questions it could not answer. A simple chatbot is quick to set up; the ongoing work is improving answers from the logs.

How the Flow XO AI assistant works

You start from a persona, such as a support agent or a lead-qualifying sales assistant, and set its tone to match your brand voice. Then you sync knowledge bases: help-center articles, website pages or documents. The assistant uses them to give accurate responses to user questions and to optimize responses over time as you monitor feedback in the logs. When a question is too complex or the user asks for a person, the assistant hands the conversation to live agents. You can mix the assistant with classic flows, so the AI handles open questions while a flow collects an email address or books an appointment.

Where Flow XO shines — and where it falls short

This part of the Flow XO review sums up the chatbot platform for small business users.

Strengths:

  • One Flow XO chatbot on six channels, including WhatsApp, SMS and Facebook Messenger.
  • A real free plan and a low entry price.
  • Workflows and 100+ integrations in the same tool.
  • Built-in live chat and AI assistants with knowledge bases.

Trade-offs:

  • The block builder gets hard to read for large bots; there is no visual canvas.
  • Analytics are basic, with no user segments or tags.
  • No Instagram or email channel.
  • Interactions and AI credits add up at higher volume.

How Flow XO compares

  • Chatfuel: a chatbot platform for WhatsApp and Messenger with a focus on marketing and e-commerce.
  • ChatBot: AI support chatbots for websites and LiveChat users.
  • Landbot: a visual, no-code chatbot builder for web and WhatsApp.
  • Voiceflow: a canvas-based builder for AI agents with more design control.
  • Intercom and Crisp: customer messaging suites with chatbots inside a full helpdesk.
  • Zapier and Make: automation platforms when you need workflows more than chat.

Is Flow XO worth it?

The verdict of this Flow XO review: Flow XO is worth it for small businesses and agencies that want one affordable chatbot platform for lead generation, support and scheduling on several channels, with integrations included. The free plan is enough to build and test, and the Standard plan covers most small sites. It is less of a fit for large teams that need deep analytics, a visual flow canvas or Instagram, or for high-volume AI support where credits and interactions grow fast. If you want help to build or improve a Flow XO chatbot, the chatbot and automation agencies and developers on LowCodeDevs can take it on.
